The Neck Lift: how it works

Buckinghamshire neck liftYou’re a certain age, but you take care of yourself. Your diet couldn’t be any healthier. You have an exercise regime that you doggedly stick to. You can look at yourself in the mirror without flinching, but no matter what you eat, or how intense you are in the gym, or what moisturisers you rub into it, there’s very little you can do to prevent your neck from betraying the ravages of ageing.

However, what age takes away, aesthetic procedures can put back. You may know the procedure in question as the neck lift. We refer to it platysmaplasty. But whatever you call it, it can take years off your appearance.

How the neck lift works

The goal of a platysmaplasty procedure is to tighten the muscles in the neck in order to create a firmer framework for the area, followed by the removal of any excess skin. Performed under general anaesthetic, the procedure involves small incisions made just behind the ears (in order to access the muscles). Any excess fat along the neck or jawline can be removed with minor liposuction. The result? A smooth, taut and more youthful appearance.

Is a neck lift painful?

While there is a degree of invasive surgery involved, discomfort is kept at an absolute minimum. There will be bruising and swelling afterwards, and most clients return to work after ten days, but our previous clients feel that it’s all worth it when they achieve the results they’ve desired for years.
