Where once cosmetic surgery was considered an exclusively female concern, it is becoming increasingly popular with men. According to research by the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS), in 2013 one in every ten procedures performed in the UK was on a man. This figure is 16 per cent up on the year before and is predicted to be greater still in 2014. So what are the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures?
Nose reshaping surgery can have very pleasing results where injury has made a nose crooked or misshapen. Men accounted for nearly one in five nose jobs performed last year, with the numbers exceeding 1,000 for the first time.
Eyelid surgery is the second most sought after procedure. The figures reveal that 887 men opted for this rejuvenating cosmetic surgery, whereby those most indiscreet signs of ageing – bags, wrinkles, lines and folds around the eyes – are smoothed away by giving the lids a delicate lift. Consultant Plastic Surgeon Mr Sudip Ghosh offers this alongside a full range of facial rejuvenation procedures at his Milton Keynes clinic.
3. Breast reduction:
Many men are affected by gynaecomastia, a condition where the chest develops a breast-like appearance. With a 24 per cent rise in demand, this is one of the fastest growing areas of male cosmetic surgery.
A surgical method of sculpting the body or face by suctioning out excess fat, liposuction gets more popular every year; 2013 saw a 28 per cent increase.
5. Ear correction:
A skilled cosmetic surgeon can reshape or resize an ear to make it sit less prominently. In 2013, there were 543 such procedures performed on men.
Mr Ghosh has been a practising plastic surgeon since 1991 and has vast experience of performing a huge range of surgical procedures on both sexes. In his Milton Keynes clinic he offers the full range of aesthetic procedures for men.Leave a reply
