You’ve adopted a healthy diet, and you’ve stuck to it. You’ve hit the gym, often. You’ve made every sacrifice to be beach body-ready, and the work has paid off. But there’s one part of your body that no dieting or exercising can help – your neck. And there’s very little that diet and exercise can do about it.
The sad fact is that the neck area is the first place that betrays the signs of ageing. It doesn’t matter what you eat, or how intense you are in the gym, or what expensive goop you rub into it – having a sagging neck is an undeniable sign of getting older.
However, what age is taking away aesthetic procedures can put back. We call it platysmaplasty. You may know it as the neck lift. Whatever you call it, it can take years off your neck area.
What happens during a neck lift?
The typical platysmaplasty procedure involves the tightening of the muscles in the neck, followed by the removal of any excess skin. Performed under general anaesthetic, the procedure involves small incisions made just behind the ears (in order to access the muscles). Any excess fat along the neck or jawline can be removed with minor liposuction. The result? A smooth, taut and more youthful appearance.
Is a neck lift painful?
While there is a degree of invasive surgery involved, discomfort is kept at an absolute minimum. There will be bruising and swelling afterwards, and most clients return to work after ten days, but our previous clients feel that it’s all worth it when they achieve the results they’ve desired for years.
