No matter how stringent your diet is or how through your exercise regime is, the neck area is the one part of your body that diet or fitness can’t preserve. Wrinkles, sagging, and ‘neck bands’ – folds which are caused by ageing, prominent neck muscles and considerable weight loss – can all take their toll on your throat area over time, and no amount of creams or cosmetics can restore the damage.
However, all is not lost: there is a procedure that can restore the look of the throat area. We call it platysmaplasty, you may know it as the neck lift –but whatever the name, a successful procedure can take years off the neck area, improve the contour of the jawline and restore a youthful, attractive look.
What happens during a neck lift?
Performed under general anaesthetic, the typical platysmaplasty procedure involves small incisions made just behind the ears, giving the surgeon the opportunity to access the muscles and tighten them if necessary. After that, any unwanted fat along the neck or jawline can be removed with minor liposuction, and any excess skin is trimmed away – resulting in a smooth, taut and more youthful appearance around the neck and jawline.
Is a neck lift painful?
While there is a degree of invasive surgery involved, discomfort is kept at an absolute minimum. There will be bruising and swelling afterwards, and most clients return to work after ten days, but our previous clients feel that it’s all worth it when they achieve the results they’ve desired for years.
