Another New Year is about to begin, and so is the annual fashion go-around. And, just like everything else, cosmetic surgery is not slow in picking up on new trends. We’ve done a bit of research and cast an eye into the near future, in an attempt to see what we’ll be doing more (and less of) in 2018. Here’s what we came up with…
Out goes the Kardashian butt – in comes a more natural look
The Brazilian Butt Lift – where fat is transferred from other parts of the body into the buttocks – is one of the biggest aesthetic trends of the decade and it isn’t going to go away any time soon. But top US surgeons such as Dr Wright Jones predict that the oversized look sported by Kim Kardashian has peaked, and his clients are looking for a more natural, perkier and compact look from their Brazilian procedure
Breasts to continue to get smaller, too
Similarly, breast augmentation procedures are continuing to trend downward: ask the younger generation about celebrities with the ideal breast size, and they’ll point at the likes Taylor Swift over fuller-figured celebs – and the trend in breast augmentation is drifting towards achieving a balanced, natural-looking silhouette, with clinics seeing the average size of breast implants dropping by 30cc.
And, so are nipples
Naturally, if the ideal breast size is diminishing, so are nipple sizes. In recent surveys – where a selection of women were asked to rate the attractiveness of a selection of nipples – pictures of women with smaller nipples and areola cane out on top.
The end of the trout pout?
While lip implants show no signs of fading away, online influences such as Kylie Jenner have turned their back on fuller lips and are either allowing them to naturally deflate to their original shape – or undergoing a procedure called lip reduction surgery.
